Hazel Beck is the new Deputy District Director for U.S. Small Business Administration Hawaii-Pacific Islands District.  From June 2018 to July 2021, Hazel served as the Director of the SoCal Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC), hosted by MiraCosta College, in Carlsbad, CA. Before joining the SoCal VBOC, Hazel served as the Director of the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC@WBDC) in Chicago for over 2.5 years. Prior to her work in Chicago, she served as the Center Director for the Hawai’i Small Business Development Center (SBDC) located in Kailua Kona on Hawai’i Island.

Catherine Orlans was appointed Destination Manager for the Hawai'i Visitor and Convention Bureau in 2021.  She is responsible for oversight and execution of the O‘ahu Destination Management Action Plan and will discuss the new plan at our weekly club meeting.

This week's club meeting will be held on Zoom.  Club members, please be on the lookout for the Zoom link from Club President Kevin McCrary by email.  For all others, please contact any executive officer to register for the link.

Our guest speaker will be Catherine Orlans of the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau who will be discussing the new Oahu Destination Management Action Plan.

In lieu of a weekly club meeting, the Rotary Club of Ala Moana will hold an installation ceremony to install incoming club president Sue Ann Lee and her executive officers and board for the Rotary year 2022/23 which starts on July 1, 2022.  The officers will be installed by the incoming District 5000 District Governor Randy Hart.  Outgoing club president Kevin McCrary will also announce club awards celebrating his Rotary year 2021/22.

Lunch will be offered at this event.  A headcount is required in advance; therefore, please RSVP by June 25, 2022.

Join us for a special club meeting.  Rotary International celebrates Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and we are pleased to recognize our two guest speakers being high-profile, local businesswomen:  Vicky Cayetano, Founder of United Laundry Services Inc., and Sherry Menor-McNamara, President & CEO-Chamber of Commerce Hawaii.  Both women will discuss their successful careers and their aspiration to run for public office.  Mrs. Cayeteno is a gubernatorial candidate and Mrs. Menor-McNamara is a candidate for Hawaii's Lt. Governor.
