Club President Scott Wishart presented checks to Dave Hamada, Sous Chef of Ohia Cafeteria at Kapiolani Community College and faculty staff member of KCC Culinary Arts Program, at the August 17, 2017, weekly club meeting held at Ala Moana Hotel.
The Rotary Club of Ala Moana is pleased to support KCC Culinary Arts Program with a donation and scholarship funds. Chef Hamada and his students are instrumental in our annual Crab Fest fundraiser as well as the recent 45th Anniversary Celebration Welcome Party where they created culinary bits under the "Taste of Hawaii" theme for our club members and our four sister clubs who visited to help us celebrate. Hamada also shared with the club some of the exciting things happening with KCC Culinary Arts Program such as:
- Culinary Institute of the Pacific is now in operation including Saturday classes to the general public
- Leahi Concept Kitchen at the Waikiki Parc Hotel in the former Nobu Restaurant location
