A chance meeting on the golf course led Michael Feldman to RCAM—and a new way to get involved in his community. See how one simple invitation can introduce someone to Rotary!

Sometimes, finding Rotary really can start with a round of golf! RCAM member Rich Courson met Michael Feldman on the golf course and learned that Michael had recently moved to Hawaiʻi from the mainland. Michael was looking for a way to get involved in his new community, so Rich invited him to check out the Rotary Club of Ala Moana.

Michael joined us for two General Membership Meetings—and apparently, we made a pretty good impression! On his second visit, he submitted his membership application. At our September 3 meeting, Past President Mary Ann Berry officially inducted Michael on behalf of President Dave Kennedy, who was away in Vancouver helping his daughter prepare for a college semester there. Welcome to RCAM, Michael!

Michael’s story is a great reminder: just invite someone! Bring a friend, co-worker, neighbor, or associate to an RCAM meeting and let them see what Rotary is all about. Prospective members can enjoy lunch on us for their first two visits. Whether you know someone who would be a great Rotarian—or you’re reading this and wondering if RCAM might be for you—we’d love to meet you!
